About The Position

The Division Controller I directs, coordinates, and supervises accounting and administrative service functions for an assigned market. The role oversees accounting staff and financial reporting, supports budgeting and forecasting, coordinates audit requests, and facilitates workflow between National Shared Services and Division operations. The position includes management responsibilities such as staffing, recruiting, delegation, performance evaluation, employee development, and ongoing coaching.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or an equivalent degree in a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of public and/or corporate accounting experience.
Good knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reports.
Good analytical and organizational skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Active or inactive Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Direct and supervise accounting staff to ensure adherence to GAAP, strong internal controls, and Company policies and procedures.
Prepare or direct the preparation of monthly financial reports, analyze budget-versus-actual results, and review the results with management.
Prepare financial forecasts and coordinate their preparation and review with homebuilding functional leaders.
Coordinate internal and external audit requests.
Facilitate workflow between National Shared Services and Division operations.
Ensure appropriate staffing to meet department needs.
Use recruiting and selection tools and processes to build organizational talent.
Delegate work according to employees’ abilities and skills.
Evaluate employee performance and plan compensation actions in accordance with performance.
Identify internal and external training opportunities and provide developmental opportunities.
Create opportunities for employee growth and provide continuous coaching on functional and leadership standards.
