About The Position

This position is for a Division Chief of Cardiac Anesthesiology at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy, a 391-bed Level I Trauma Center and flagship academic medical center in Omaha, Nebraska. The role involves leading and growing a high-volume academic cardiovascular program. The Chief will provide strategic leadership for a team of 6-8 cardiac anesthesiologists within a larger department of 23 anesthesiologists and 27 CRNAs. Responsibilities include shaping the future of cardiac anesthesiology through clinical excellence, faculty development, recruitment, quality improvement, and program growth. The position requires close collaboration with cardiac surgery, cardiology, and hospital leadership to advance a comprehensive cardiovascular program. The role also involves maintaining an active clinical practice, performing and interpreting advanced intraoperative TEE, optimizing perioperative outcomes, developing clinical protocols, overseeing quality initiatives, mentoring faculty, and representing the division nationally. The ideal candidate will have a passion for academic medicine, leadership, and innovation, with opportunities to teach residents and medical students, develop a cardiac anesthesia fellowship, expand research, and support faculty advancement.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
  • Fellowship training in Cardiac Anesthesiology
  • Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
  • Advanced Perioperative TEE certification (or eligible)
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Nebraska
