About The Position

This is a multi-functional position responsible for following all processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely invoicing within specified deadlines. The role involves researching and analyzing facts and data to ensure accurate invoice production, application of rates and prices for company revenue transactions, while adhering to company and railroad industry accounting rules and standards. Additionally, this person will work to build relationships and liaise between Sales & Marketing, External & Internal Customers, Regional staff, Operations, and Crew.

  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to quickly learn PowerBI, CRM, Advance Analytics, and other data related tools
  • Experience with pricing, tariffs, commercial regulations, and marketing
  • In-depth understanding of interline settlement (ISS) and railroad accounting rules & procedures
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple activities to meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • TMS, and RMS or similar systems experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge or use of Rate EDI Network (REN), RailConnect Contract Management (RCM)
  • Knowledge of D365 a plus

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various departments and regional staff to ensure accurate data is captured within our systems to maximize revenue and minimize expense exposure.
  • Conduct audits of waybills confirming accurate capture of revenue and expenses associated with the maneuvers of the operations of the railroad.
  • Advise and provide remedial recommendations to other departments when waybill, equipment movement history and/or rate discrepancies are identified.
  • Maintains customer accounts including investigation of payment discrepancies.
  • Investigates unrated transactions in ISS and communicate with internal teams for resolution.
  • Ability to interpret and understand railroad contracts related to application of rates.
  • Cross training with Commercial Support to assist in the TMS charge code maintenance.
  • Monitors for proper funds settlement with other railroads.
  • Assists in the closing procedures of monthly revenue accounts.
  • Performs other tasks as directed, including special projects.
