About The Position

Lethbridge School Division is seeking an experienced and highly professional individual to serve as Division Administrative Assistant in the Human Resources Department. The successful candidate will bring strong technical and organizational skills, sound judgment, and excellent interpersonal abilities to the Human Resources Department. This position will be responsible for administrative functions supporting the Director and Coordinator of Human Resources and serve as the first contact person for the Division as they greet anyone visiting the Education Centre. The role serves as the receptionist for the Education Centre, directing all visitors, managing all public inquiry calls and distribution of mail for the Education Centre. As a member of our Human Resources team, the role will also focus on supporting new hire onboarding and orientation, managing employee files, Occupational Health and Safety follow-up for substitutes and a variety of Human Resources functions. A key component of this role involves preparing HR documentation and certificates, providing reception and administrative support services and applying collective agreements while working in a team environment. The successful candidate will provide accurate, timely, and practical guidance and support to staff and school-based administrators. This position requires sound judgment, discretion, strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Requirements

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying collective agreements
  • Knowledge of labour relations principles and collective agreement administration
  • Strong technical and research skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in preparing clear, accurate, and business-professional documentation
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Understanding of the educational context and the complexity of public education systems

  • Intermediate-level proficiency with spreadsheets and databases
  • Minimum two (2) years of post-secondary education in business, office administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Proof of Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED).
  • Class 5 Alberta drivers license.
  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name.
