About The Position

San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) is a community-based nonprofit that supports individuals with developmental disabilities in living full, independent, and inclusive lives. SARC is seeking a passionate individual to join their diverse, mission-driven team. This role is responsible for the creation and oversight of SARC’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, ensuring services are culturally informed and inclusive for all clients and their families. The position oversees cultural programs to promote equity and reduce disparities in service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, ethnic studies, diversity, or a closely related field, at least one year of experience working in programs providing services for individuals with developmental disabilities and two years of experience leading diversity and inclusion programs and management experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in social work, ethnic studies, diversity, or a closely related field, three years of experience working in programs providing services for individuals with developmental disabilities and five years of experience leading diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Knowledge of principles of human growth and development, especially as it relates to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion and their applications and implications in human services contexts.
  • Knowledge of community resources including residential care facilities, educational, recreational, vocational, medical care providers, law enforcement agencies, and other related supported systems.
  • Knowledge of principles of normalization, the developmental and functional skills models, and person-centered planning.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations pertaining to particular programs, including Regional Center Systems and Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act.
  • Skill in managing high-level, multi-year organizational change.
  • Skill in policy development and project management.
  • Skill in research and writing.
  • Skill in working with families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Skill in public speaking, presentation, coaching, and written communication.
  • Skill in training/curriculum development and implementation.

  • Skill in working cooperatively and effectively with a wide variety of people, including individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, community care facilities, school personnel, therapists, medical providers, law enforcement, etc.

  • Ability to understand and prepare written documents.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor POS expenditures and plan annual meetings.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to community organizations.
  • Coordinate SARC initiatives to reduce disparities.
  • Identify diversity and inclusion challenges and opportunities for development within the regional center.
  • Develop and oversee cultural programs to promote equity and reduce disparities in the provision of services.
  • Develop and implement culturally appropriate service types/service delivery models.
  • Coordinate trainings with vendors on providing culturally sensitive services.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert in bias awareness in developing and coordinating services.
  • Facilitate workshops/training for agency staff and providers designed to address issues related to cultural competence.
  • Implement internal and external communications strategies that promote and educate employees and the community regarding diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with state, county and city agencies to help launch diversity and inclusion initiatives and meet diversity and inclusion organizational goals.
  • Identify, build and sustain strategic partnerships with local community agencies and various stakeholders to assist in outreach efforts designed to identify, educate and inform clients and families.
  • Attend key inclusion and diversity conferences and participate in training activities that will help the regional center transform its strategic approach to reaching diversity and inclusion goals and objectives.
  • Oversee grant activities related to Diversity Inclusion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
