About The Position

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) is seeking a Division Director of Executive Search and Field Services. TASB, founded in 1949, has grown to over 500 employees dedicated to providing resources to 1,024 school districts in Texas, supporting the education of 5.4 million students. TASB fosters a culture of growth and development, earning recognition as a Top Ten Best Places to Work by the Austin Business Journal. This role is a Texas-based remote position, requiring the selected candidate to reside within the State of Texas.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, with doctorate preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in K-12 public education.
  • Five or more years of experience hiring, evaluating, and supervising employees.
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic thinking and change management.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing a data-driven outreach and marketing strategy.
  • Ability to travel in state approximately 50% of the time, with frequent overnight travel.
  • Effective data management and use of analytic tools such as Power BI, to create focused, actionable outreach activities. Create focused, actionable outreach activities and track effectiveness of strategically planned member outreach.
  • Strong ability to build and leverage professional relationships with key decision makers to explore needs and suggest appropriate TASB services.
  • Ability to assess needs through active listening and influencing others.
  • Proficiency with CRM software to document member contact opportunities and activities.
  • Ability to identify the professional development needs of direct reports and assist them in improving their knowledge and skills.
  • Effective presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to successfully manage and prioritize work.
  • Commitment to and capacity for collaboration across TASB divisions and with external members.
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative.
  • Selected qualified candidate must live within the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Executive Search and Field Services teams to achieve expectations for member service, productivity, quality, and reliability.
  • Develop and operate within the annual division budgets.
  • Set priorities for the most effective and efficient use of all resources.
  • Sustain an extensive working knowledge of local district operations.
  • Empower staff to take responsibility for their jobs and goals and delegate with appropriate accountability.
  • Coordinate and contribute to any relevant TASB reports and/or participate in organization-wide committees.
  • Offer expertise to support and promote TASB programs and services while building and enhancing trusting relationships with members.
  • Represent TASB in presentations to school boards and other related entities while emphasizing value and benefit of membership.
  • Develop, monitor, and update strategic plans for divisions in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure appropriate training and professional development for the Field Services staff to support required data analytic skills and support of each service.
  • Oversee all Field Services publications online and in print.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving members’ problems and concerns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key member contacts.
  • Facilitate the exchange of relevant information with executive leadership and other divisions of TASB, including sharing facing TASB members.
  • Provide and oversee data-driven outreach and marketing strategy to promote TASB programs and TASB as an entity within the educational community, with an emphasis on effective digital outreach and in person contact across multiple channels.
  • Oversee all aspects of search services to TASB members, including superintendents, and potentially chief executive officers and other key administrative positions.
  • Develop and implement effective marketing strategies for search services.
  • Set competitive pricing policies for search services.
  • Develop programs to prepare search applicants and board members for the interviewing process.
  • Implement strategies to cultivate a robust pool of search applicants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key member contacts after hiring and placement of superintendents.
  • Implement effective strategies for gathering community and stakeholder input during superintendent search process.
