About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a District Veterinary Director to join their team. This role involves overseeing multiple veterinary centers, ensuring high-quality pet care and exceptional customer service. The Director will manage operations, drive revenue, support practice leadership, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The position requires a strong leader with a passion for animals and a commitment to Destination Pet's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Must be a pet fanatic.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in scheduling, including availability during evenings and weekends for emergency on-call support.
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational acumen.
  • Proficiency in articulate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passionate affinity for animals, with an enthusiastic and caring demeanor, and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a vet care setting.
  • Basic understanding of Veterinary Center practices.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and database applications.
  • Proficiency in task prioritization and delegation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Experience in problem-solving, exercising sound judgment, maintaining confidentiality, and the ability to interact professionally and effectively with co-workers, clients, and the public.
  • 1+ year of management experience in a multi-unit environment and/or strong demonstration of previous management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Required travel 50%-75%, including overnight.
  • Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to handle frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.

Responsibilities

  • Live and model the mission, vision, culture, and policies of Destination Pet.
  • Ensure all centers provide top-quality care and exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct monthly practice visits to assess overall success.
  • Monitor day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives to drive revenue.
  • Partner with Practice/Hospital Leadership and/or District Veterinary Directors.
  • Manage scheduling to ensure effective staff/doctor scheduling.
  • Partner with Recruiting and Practice/Hospital Leadership on doctor hiring, retention, support, and compensation.
  • Analyze financial reports and statistics to inform business plans and identify growth opportunities.
  • Motivate and coach Practice/Hospital leadership and celebrate team achievements.
  • Analyze and deliver results of operational processes impacting practice success.
  • Ensure completion of district quarterly inventory.
  • Reinforce Destination Pet’s training, safety, and service programs.
  • Ensure center compliance with federal and local labor laws (DEA, EEOC, ADA, Fair Labor Practices, radiation safety, OSHA, HAZMAT, etc.).
  • Conduct weekly calls with district leadership to discuss performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Implement a one-on-one cadence for individual growth plans and management development.
  • Partner with the practice management team to identify and execute additional revenue-driving initiatives.
  • Inspect buildings and properties and recommend/report facility repairs and improvements.
  • Monitor and assist with safety, emergency, and crisis situations.
  • Resolve customer and staff complaints not resolved at a center level.
  • Interact with customers, guests, visitors, and team members professionally and courteously.
  • Assume operational oversight, maintaining facility standards, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
  • Cultivate a pervasive culture of safety.
  • Embrace and execute additional responsibilities as needed.
