This specific job is for the Oil and Gas market technical service in both the Texas/Oklahoma markets as well as Canada. Supporting Sales and providing technical assistance in this market is the main function of the job.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a metallurgical, technical service, or customer facing technical role.
  • Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of steel product experience, preferably within the SBQ industry.
  • Experience supporting OEM customers, including material selection, specifications, and new product development.
  • Familiarity with PPAPs, customer audits, and qualifications of new products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely technical and metallurgical support for customer RFQs, complaints, and inquiries.
  • Partner with customer technical teams to support new product development and evaluate product performance.
  • Build strong relationships with OEM technical personnel responsible for material selection and specifications, enabling early involvement in new designs and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with mill operations and metallurgical teams to resolve customer issues, serving as the technical lead on major claims and on-site support as needed.
  • Support new product qualifications, including PPAPs, in coordination with Product Metallurgists and production teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on customer feedback, quality data, productivity goals, and cost targets.
  • Strengthen customer relationships through technical service activities that support Nucor’s Commercial Excellence.
