About The Position

Covidien, LP (a Medtronic company) is seeking a District Sales Manager- Surgical to lead a team of sales professionals. This role involves portfolio management, employee coaching, field visits, and setting developmental goals to drive sales performance. The manager will oversee complex sales processes, negotiate local agreements, and drive regional revenue growth. Responsibilities include sourcing, hiring, training, and onboarding new sales representatives, while fostering team development and performance management. The role requires promoting the Medtronic Surgical portfolio, focusing on physician preference products in areas like Bariatric, Thoracic, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, General, Gynecology, and Urology surgery. A key aspect is developing competitive sales strategies for Surgical products and collaborating with other Medtronic business units to provide comprehensive customer solutions. The position also involves providing technical product-specific teaching and education to medical personnel, peers, and technical support staff. Sales and service will cover Stapling, Surgical Instrumentation & Advanced Energy devices, Electrosurgical Capital equipment & AI-powered digital video platforms, suture and wound closure products, women’s health, and hernia products. The role requires working in an operating room setting, understanding protocols, and providing procedural clinical support and education to hospital staff and administration. Establishing and managing multi-level relationships with clinical and administrative stakeholders in hospitals, surgery centers, and with distributor and Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) partners is essential. The manager will also handle clinical study discussions, review published data, and utilize product support and clinical application. Account, inventory, expense, and budget coordination are also key responsibilities. The position requires 24/7 availability for emergent cases, including working in the operating room, answering calls, and providing sales and service support. The role is remote, based within the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area, servicing North Texas, Arkansas, Memphis, and North Mississippi territories. Travel of 50% within the territory is required. The position reports to 710 Medtronic Parkway NE, Minneapolis, MN 55432.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Biomedical Engineering, Histology, Immunology & Anatomy or health care related field plus 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate sales experience for surgical medical devices.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Promotion of Surgical products within hospital environment to Bariatric, Thoracic, Colorectal, and Surgical Oncology.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Developing competitive sales strategy encompassing Surgical products and internal business partners to offer customer comprehensive solutions.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Teaching and educating surgeons, peers and technical support personnel.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Selling and servicing products including Stapling, Surgical Instrumentation & Advanced Energy devices, Electrosurgical Capital equipment, suture and wound closure products.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Working in an operating room setting, understanding operating room protocols and providing procedural clinical support & education.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Establishing and managing multi-level relationships with clinical & administrative stakeholders within hospitals & surgery centers as well as distributor & GPO partner companies.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Managing clinical study discussion, reviewing published data and utilizing product support & clinical application.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience with Account, inventory, expense, and budget coordination.
  • Must be available and willing to serve customers 24/7 for emergent cases including working in operating room and answering calls, and providing sales and service support to various hospitals and clinics in the responsible territory.
  • Must work remotely from home office within the Dallas /Fort Worth, TX area servicing the North Texas, Arkansas, Memphis & North Mississippi territories.
  • Must be able to travel 50% within responsible territory including North Texas, Arkansas, Memphis, and North Mississippi to provide sales and services to various hospitals, surgery centers and clinics.
  • Must be insurable (car insurance) and have a valid driver’s license.
