About The Position

The District Sales Manager, Government position directs the sales activities for an assigned geographic area through the implementation of company strategy. This position is responsible for managing $25-$50 million in sales and direct reporting responsibility for a team of Account Managers. Ensures strategic and tactical alignment with key stakeholders and business partners to grow business profitably.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 7+ years experience selling a structured value proposition
  • Applies strategic planning methods, maintains organized workflows, and effectively leverages technology to managing a district and team.
  • Plans and sets goals aligned to objectives, allocates resources appropriately, applies quantitative analysis to solve problems, and manages time effectively.
  • Understands and interprets financial reporting, cost and budgets, and economic earnings to inform business decisions.
  • Delivers clear and effective presentations, incorporates customer needs into decisions, and leads change initiatives.
  • Builds and maintains internal partner relationships that support achievement of sales and operational objectives.
  • Requires travel 50%-75% of the time. This may include overnight stays and travel by airplane.
  • Leads others to deliver results through clear direction, accountability, and support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a sales team to drive revenue growth, market penetration, customer retention, and new opportunity development within an assigned geographic area.
  • Drive accountability for opportunity development, customer relationships, and retention.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to plan, execute, and measure sales performance within the assigned market.
  • Implement segment initiatives locally with customers, supplier partners, and internal resources.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships, including developing and co-owning key customer contacts.
  • Achieve revenue goals and guide the team toward profitable growth through pricing strategies.
  • Lead change by guiding the team through business and organizational changes.
  • Manage resources, supplier relationships, tools, and talent by prioritizing people and work; setting performance expectations; coaching; providing feedback; managing performance metrics; and developing future leaders through succession planning.
