About The Position

The District Merchandiser services Spectrum Brands products in big-box retailers, including The Home Depot and Lowe’s. The role covers an assigned territory and involves completing store resets, promoting consumer packaged goods, and interacting with consumers. The merchandiser builds positive relationships with store personnel and customers, supports customer loyalty, and shares information about inventory opportunities with the Spectrum Brands Sales team. The position requires working with minimal supervision and having reliable transportation. The role may involve covering multiple stores each day, participating in promotional events, and traveling extensively within the territory, with potential overnight travel. Work may take place in conditions similar to a warehouse, with exposure to weather while traveling between stores. Employees are compensated for vehicle wear and tear and receive mileage reimbursement. The role is not eligible for sponsorship.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or significant or established prior work experience.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 60 pounds.
Ability to travel extensively using personal transportation within the territory, with potential overnight travel as needed.
Valid driver’s license.
Reliable daily transportation.
Professional communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with consumers, store personnel, and internal audiences.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to work effectively with a high level of independence.
Strong problem-solving ability.
Ability to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

1 to 2 years of previous sales or retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain store presentation standards through building displays, installing fixtures, completing store sets, maintaining shelves, down-stocking, completing retrofits and inventory reconciliation, maintaining displays, and installing point-of-purchase materials.
Identify opportunities for additional display space to drive volume goals.
Provide product knowledge training to store personnel to help them drive sales to end users.
Cover multiple stores daily in an assigned territory.
Generate sales by increasing brand awareness and product trial through direct interaction with consumers in assigned stores.
Participate in promotional events in the assigned territory.
Assist with and monitor customer satisfaction.
Understand and demonstrate safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Relay information to the Spectrum Brands Sales team regarding inventory wins or opportunities.
