About The Position

The District Manager is responsible for maximizing store sales through excellent customer service, product availability, merchandising, and maintaining an exceptional store image. This role involves providing information to store management on promotional activities, business opportunities, results, and competitive trends. The District Manager also manages controllable costs by educating managers on procedures for controlling merchandise variation, salaries, overtime, cash, and maintenance costs. Collaboration with the marketing team is key to ensuring promotions and new product introductions are fully implemented, and feedback is provided to category managers regarding stock issues. The role also involves partnering with vendors to ensure product availability and timely execution of monthly promotions, while ensuring vendor performance and behavior are professional. Profitability of store operations is managed by overseeing cash and merchandise variation, salaries, and other controllable expense lines on the P&L. Compliance with policies, procedures, and government regulations is enforced, including restricted sales policies. Protecting employees, customers, and company assets through a safe and secure working environment, enforcing safety practices, and providing safety communication and training is crucial. Financial objectives are achieved by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions. Leadership and direction are provided to store managers, including assistance with recruiting, selection, orientation, employee development, training programs, and performance management. Adherence to the Company Operating Policy of Legal, Ethical, and Moral practices is expected. Professional and technical knowledge is enhanced through educational workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies. Contribution to team effort is measured by achieving Financial and Key Result Area targets.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred. Other combinations of job related experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted.
Three to five years of retail business experience or more preferred; including minimum of two years of management responsibility.
Must have demonstrated leadership ability, good communication skills, be self-directed, self-motivated and customer service oriented. Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in English.
Ability to supervise and train Store Managers in use of store equipment, tools and materials. Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the SM job description.
Expertise with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word preferred.
A current valid driver's license is required to operate a company vehicle.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Achieves financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Provides leadership and direction to store managers, including assistance in recruiting, selection, and orientation processes, assists with employee development and training programs; planning, monitoring and appraising job results. Establishes job expectations. Provides coaching to develop action plans for issue resolution. Administers counseling notices; initiates corrective actions. Implements non-discriminatory related management skills while hiring, training, counseling, motivating and separating employees.
Adheres to the Company Operating Policy of Legal, Ethical, and Moral practices.
Enhances professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reading professional publications; establishing personal networks; or participating in professional societies.
