About The Position

Petco is seeking a District Manager to lead stores in the South Bay/ Westside Los Angeles area. This role is responsible for achieving district sales and profit goals, developing and implementing plans to maximize profits, and making independent judgments regarding merchandise placement, staffing, and problem resolution. The District Manager will oversee up to 15 locations and is a remote role requiring the candidate to be based in the Los Angeles area. Requirements

  • Must be based in the Los Angeles area.
  • Ability to travel between stores, sometimes several hundred miles per week.
  • Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to stores to ensure district sales and profit goals are achieved.
  • Develop and implement plans, policies, and procedures to maximize profits.
  • Analyze and monitor sales and expense figures for each store, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Visit district stores regularly to conduct inspections and ensure adherence to Petco policies, procedures, and merchandising programs.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and manage Store Management to ensure adequate staffing and maintain succession plans.
  • Ensure all associates are trained to provide outstanding customer service and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Provide counsel to Store Managers on personnel issues, store events, problem-solving, and crisis intervention.
  • Foster open communication with store personnel and the community.
  • Plan and set individual and store goals, tracking progress to ensure objectives are met.
  • Conduct regular visits to competitor locations and report observed changes.
  • Conduct regular audits of store paperwork, including cash control procedures.
  • Ensure district stores are aware of and comply with company-directed Shrink reduction initiatives and Asset Protection programs.
  • Coordinate new store openings and existing store remodels, and facilitate prompt repair of store equipment.
  • Ensure all store paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to and promote established safety procedures.
  • Monitor merchandise levels in district stores and coordinate stock balance between stores.
  • Audit quarterly and annual physical inventory counts for accuracy and to detect allocation problems.
  • Complete semi-annual performance evaluations and annual merit increase recommendations for Store Managers.
  • Ensure employee reviews are administered prior to due dates.
  • Approve performance evaluations for all store employees and provide guidance in progressive discipline.
  • Communicate all situations and/or conditions that affect the district to the appropriate level of management or department.
