About The Position

The Person County District Attorney's office seeks a qualified candidate to provide support services to the office. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: answering the telephone and interacting with the public and law enforcement. setting up physical files in felony cases. generating criminal histories through DCI and structured sentencing worksheets through CJLeads. requesting officer' initial incident reports and any additional discovery; gathering information to assist in the prosecution of cases, and any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies and the general public.
  • Ability to calmly handle stressful situations and de-escalate potential conflicts.
  • Comfortable using multiple, cloud-based technologies.
  • Knowledge of court system and procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Knowledge of community resources to refer victims and witnesses.
  • Skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint software.
  • Ability to accurately type 45 wpm.
  • Ability to interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services.
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the victim and witness program.
  • Ability to manage the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed.
  • Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate.
  • Two (2) years of legal secretarial experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Justice/Odyssey, eWarrants, eDiscovery, and Axon is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferable but not required.
  • Some legal experience is also preferable.
