About The Position

The San Diego County District Attorney's Office is accepting applications for the position of District Attorney Investigator II. This role offers a rewarding career in criminal investigations within an award-winning agency. The District Attorney's Office is looking for experienced investigators. Candidates selected for this classification are hired at the highest step, at a salary of $139,097.40. Experience conducting fraud investigations is highly desirable. District Attorney Investigators perform a wide variety of investigations of alleged or suspected violations of criminal and civil laws. Incumbents are sworn peace officers with law enforcement duties. District Attorney Investigator II is the first working-level class of the series. Under general supervision, incumbents perform progressively more responsible criminal and civil investigations.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid and current California Regular Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate at the time of application.
  • One (1) year of experience as a District Attorney Investigator I with the County of San Diego; OR Three (3) years of recent experience as a peace officer working for a Federal, State or local law enforcement agency, one (1) year of which must have been conducting full-time, comprehensive, and complex criminal investigations.
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age by the time of appointment.
  • Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, severity, and recency.
  • Prior to appointment, candidates will be subject to a background investigation.
