About The Position

The Distributions Specialist is responsible for the accounting functions undertaken by the Trust department in its administration of trusts, agency accounts, estates, conservatorships, and IRAs. This role involves accurately posting all transactions on the trust accounting system without direction, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and according to client instructions. The specialist will also be responsible for archiving and noting documentation related to cash transactions, proactively communicating with clients via phone to advise them of their request status, and quickly remediating any issues or concerns arising from client contact. Adherence to all procedures related to client contact is essential. Under the guidance of senior team members, the Distributions Specialist will assist in cashiering activities related to institutional client conversions and deconversions, and develop an understanding of complex distribution activities such as Roth conversions, alternative asset re-registrations, and plan distributions. The role also requires demonstrating compliance with all bank regulations, staying updated on regulation changes, and following all Bank policies and procedures, including completing required annual or job-specific training. A working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other applicable regulations is necessary. The position may involve coaching, mentoring, or training others as a subject matter expert and actively fostering the Columbia corporate culture. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem prevention and problem-solving skills

  • Strong understanding of a PC, Windows environment

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year related experience preferred
  • Prior financial services experience in a transaction processing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Post all transactions on the trust accounting system accurately and without direction
  • Ensure all transactions are processed accurately and according to client instructions

  • Keeps up to date on regulation changes
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert
