About The Position

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. (E2) is seeking a Distribution Project Planner to assist in the development of strategic project plans to meet company goals. The role involves providing project oversight, mentorship, and technical assistance for project scope and determinations. The planner may visit work sites to assess scope for designs of moderate to high complexity for gas and/or electric facilities, from inception to completion. This includes meeting with customers to understand design limitations and requests, preparing service orders, field memos, and construction work orders with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that comply with company policies, safety orders, and CPUC regulations. The position requires knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying design and engineering principles, overhead, underground, distribution, CPUC Rules, gas and electric theory, standard practices, and construction calculations. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems, MS Office applications, Smartsheet, SAP, and web-based applications is necessary. The planner will identify site-specific obstacles, communicate this information to peers, and present design options and critical infrastructure issues for consideration.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma.
  • 7+ years of experience working on distribution system projects.
  • Qualified Designer (Overhead, Underground, or Gas).
  • Substantial experience working with designers, planners and PM’s on matters related to design.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems, MS Office applications, Smartsheet, SAP and web based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides project oversight and mentorship to peers and technical assistance for all project scope & determinations during daily operations.
  • May visit work sites to and assist with determination of scope to enable designs of moderate to high complexity for additions and modifications to Company gas and/or electric facilities from onset through completion of project.
  • As necessary, meets with customers to identify specific design limitations, and customer requests.
  • Prepares service orders, field memos and moderate construction work orders with safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs that conform to Company policies, safety orders, and CPUC regulations.
  • Provides knowledge of and experience with the interpretation and application of design and engineering principals, overhead, underground, distribution, CPUC Rules, gas and electric theory standard practices and construction calculations.
  • Required proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems, MS Office applications, Smartsheet, SAP and web based applications.
  • Identifies site specific obstacles, relays this information to peers, presents design options for consideration and critical infrastructure issues.
  • Communicates with other project team members in the development of a compliant design according to appropriate standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with regards to design approach and decisions made during the design process.
  • In the absence of the Project Manager or Project Designer, able to substitute in project meetings and communicate effectively with regards to the design.
  • Communicates with other project team members and customers in the development of a compliant design according to appropriate standards.
  • Manages design files and functional organization of design comments and iterations.
