This role involves coordinating and creating switching for the outage of distribution lines and equipment for testing. Under directive supervision, the Distribution Operator will operate electric distribution facilities and dispatch electric and gas outage and trouble notifications. The position also includes performing typical maintenance and repairs to ensure service continuity in cooperation with Section Operators and Division operating personnel. The role requires issuing switching orders for de-energizing, grounding, tagging, and re-energizing distribution facilities, and ensuring strict adherence to Electric Switching and Tagging Procedures and standard procedures for gas operations. The operator will perform analyses of distribution circuits for proper real-time operation and contingency conditions, make initial analyses of electric outages/trouble, and initiate actions to minimize interruptions. When assigned, the operator will oversee overall distribution switching operations in a lead role, operate and monitor supervisory controlled electric distribution devices, log data, keep records up to date, and update system diagrams and programs. Additionally, the role involves receiving electric/gas trouble and outage calls and dispatching crews via the Outage Management System, recognizing unusual conditions, and informing responsible personnel. The position also includes performing other related or less skilled work as required.
