About The Position

The Distribution Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the plant’s shipping, receiving, and cutting departments and maintaining customer service levels that meet or exceed expectations. Strong skills are required in planning, facilitating, organizing, directing and monitoring of the internal controls for shipping functions related to the manufacturing of cable products.

Requirements

Some college courses completed
Three (3) years of related experience
Knowledge of distribution, inventory management, material handling
Familiarity with production and inventory control methods
Strong skills in planning, facilitating, organizing, directing and monitoring of the internal controls
Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Prior supervisory experience, and experience in Shipping, Purchasing, or Inventory Control

Responsibilities

Is familiar with customer base and has a working knowledge of products, industry regulations, and commercial regulatory structure.
Has knowledge of rate structures for truck loads and also determines the most economical and expeditious means of shipping using the routing guidelines. Assists in selecting carriers and scheduling the timely arrival of trucks and trailers and handles various aspects of export shipments.
Ensures shipped products meet customer and quality requirements. Negotiates rates with approved carriers for transportation needs ensuring the use of quality carriers to deliver products to the customers’ specifications.
Leads carrier meetings and legal requirements in delivering customer products for the prevention and control of damages in transit, being accountable for any traffic related issues.
Maintains records of all shipments and traces shipments as required, assisting in handling details regarding claims against carriers.
