About The Position

The Distribution Lead supports the Distribution Supervisor by providing hands-on leadership to Distribution Assistants and coordinating accurate, timely, and safe order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and delivery support. This position trains and coaches employees, monitors product and shipment quality, maintains accurate documentation and ERP entries, and promotes efficient workflow and reliable customer service.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to use computers and ERP systems.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand or walk continuously during an 8-hour shift.
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Open availability to work varying schedules, including nights, holidays, and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to lead by example, train employees, and provide clear coaching and feedback.
  • Ability to coordinate order selection, loading, shipping, receiving, inventory, and delivery activities while maintaining accuracy and product quality.
  • Ability to use ERP systems, accurately complete required documentation, and interpret basic operating data.
  • Ability to identify workflow bottlenecks and recommend improvements to shipping accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to safely operate assigned material-handling equipment and a box truck longer than 20 feet when needed.
  • Ability to communicate food safety, employee safety, product-quality, staffing, and customer-service concerns promptly.
  • Maintain forklift certification and the capability to provide train-the-trainer instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Training: Lead by example to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Provide hands-on leadership to Distribution Assistants so the team works efficiently and accurately fills and receives shipments. Train Distribution Assistants on company standard operating procedures and policies applicable to distribution, including employee safety and food safety requirements. Provide general coaching and feedback to improve individual and team performance, and escalate concerns to the Distribution Supervisor when necessary.
  • Order Selection and Loading: Oversee timely order selection and loading of products for shipment. Select and stage the correct product item numbers, quantities, and shelf life for shipment. Inspect product quality, pack only products that meet quality standards, and isolate and report quality defects to the Distribution Supervisor. Ensure products are securely packed on pallets or carts, including shrink-wrapping and labeling as needed. Move products to and from storage areas and the loading dock for shipping and receiving. Accurately record product information on paperwork and in ERP systems. Serve as a backup driver when delivery assistance is needed, safely operate a box truck longer than 20 feet when assigned, and maintain a clean motor vehicle record. Perform other duties as assigned to support Operations.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Manage inbound and outbound deliveries for product quality, including temperature and shelf life, and accurate counts. Use material-handling equipment or manual methods to safely move products, materials, and supplies between storage areas and the loading dock for loading or unloading. Load, unload, inspect, and put away shipments of materials and supplies. Inspect incoming shipments for defects, including damage, incorrect item numbers, or incorrect quantities. Maintain forklift certification and the capability to provide train-the-trainer instruction.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain inventory and quality control throughout the shipping and receiving process. Stock and organize inventory and consolidate storage space as needed. Rotate inventory by item number, lot code, and shelf life. Support periodic company inventory counts of products, materials, and supplies.
  • Employee and Food Safety Compliance: Follow the facility GMPs. Execute daily processes that enforce food safety protocols and maintain compliance. Support the efforts of the company to maintain our food safety system and quality programs. Report product-quality, food safety, employee safety, or material-handling concerns to the Distribution Supervisor and help ensure the team follows applicable procedures.
