About The Position

Responsible for the design of electrical distribution system improvement, line extensions and residential, commercial and light industrial projects. This position also involves obtaining easements and various permits.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of NESC, OSHA, state, county and local laws and codes dealing with electricity and safety.
  • Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), NISC Software – (Financials/Service/Mapping-Staking), and have a basic understanding of GIS.
  • Ability to collect and organize data from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to research alternative courses of action beyond prescribed guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical engineering specifications.
  • Ability to convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside Central Lincoln, using language and a format the audience will best understand.
  • Ability to utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, NISC software).
  • Ability to effectively relate well with others, including supervisors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside Central Lincoln.

Nice To Haves

  • Electric utility experience in utility operations/engineering with emphasis on design and construction practices preferred.
  • NWPPA Staking Certification - Required to be completed as class schedules allow (typically 2-4 years).

Responsibilities

  • Designs system improvements, new line extensions, new residential, commercial and light industrial services, and new subdivision layouts.
  • Serves as a representative to Central Lincoln's distribution customers to ensure the provision of safe, efficient, and cost-effective service.
  • Prepares designs for system improvements and complete engineering studies as assigned.
  • Utilizes NISC software to create service orders and work orders in order to track and route work to multiple departments.
  • Performs inventories and field checks of completed projects.
  • Coordinates work projects with customers, builders, contractors, architects, engineers, and code authorities.
  • Hires, oversees and inspects work of various contractors doing work for Central Lincoln.
  • Performs damage assessments in the field during storm events.
  • Completes timecards, reports, data tickets, logs, job-related forms, and other similar paperwork accurately, completely, timely, and in the format prescribed and explained by Human Resources or supervisors.
  • Maintains regular, consistent, and predictable attendance, including being available, accessible, and able to complete all required essential functions and assigned job tasks during the position’s assigned work schedule and/or normal business hours onsite as directed by Central Lincoln.
  • Communicates in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner with all employees, customers, contractors, the Board of Directors, and others with whom we may work.
