About The Position

TRC, Member of WSP, is hiring a Distribution Engineer I to work within its Power Distribution engineering team as part of its growing Power Sector. The role is responsible for performing complex detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems, including preparing drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer. Work is performed with a minimum of supervision and in accordance with applicable industry and company standards and procedures.

The position may involve technical work across areas such as electrical engineering, instrumentation and control, protective relaying, transmission design, substation design, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, distribution engineering, surveying, and GIS and mapping. The engineer will coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to handle contacts with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities.
• Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and technical capability to perform the job responsibilities.
• 0–2 years of underground and/or overhead distribution engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

• EIT certification or working toward earning an EIT.
• Experience working with SDG&E.
• Experience working in both field and office settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer.
• Prepare manual or computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature, with neatness and a minimum of errors.
• Perform design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry and company standards covering assigned work.
• Assist in preparing overhead and/or underground engineering calculations and analyses.
• Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules.
• Handle contacts with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
