About The Position

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. Support Distribution Automation Circuit Reconfiguration (DACR) that reduce outage times, reduce the number of impacted customers that experience a sustained outage, and isolate the fault, allowing it to be found and repaired quicker. In addition, reclosing technology (trip savers) is replacing fuses on PSO’s system, which will reduce sustained outages to end customers. The engineers in the group perform arc flash studies for existing customers, motor start studies for potential new load, and deployment of CVR as part of PSO’s Energy Efficiency Rider.

Requirements

  • Engineer Associate (Salary Grade 6): This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET.
  • Engineering Technologist Associate (Salary Grade 6): This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET.
  • Engineer (Salary Grade 7): Has typically acquired a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET along with two or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
  • Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Engineering Technologist (Salary Grade 7): Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology principles; Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET.
  • Engineer Sr (Salary 8): Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.
  • Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Engineering Technologist Sr (Salary Grade 8): Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology principles; Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET.
  • Engineer Principal (Salary Grade 9): Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET; or 6 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.
  • Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Engineering Technologist Principal (Salary Grade 9): Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology principles; Bachelor's degree in engineering technology in a program accredited by ABET.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering technology from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
  • Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred for Engineer Sr.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred for Engineer Principal unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.
  • Active participation in professional and business organizations is encouraged.
