About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Distribution Drafter to join their Power Delivery Solutions organization. This role involves working as part of a team that provides engineering consulting services to electric utility clients nationwide. The position offers a fast-paced, diverse work environment with flexible work hours and arrangements. In this role, you can expect to gain expertise in NESC, perform electrical power calculations, interact with other disciplines (Substation, Protection & Controls, and Civil Structural), and develop time management and organizational skills. This posting is for multiple opportunities, with the level of the role and compensation matched to the candidate's experience. The Distribution Drafter will work under mentorship to perform drafting and detailing functions using MicroStation and AutoCAD, with the expectation of developing increased independence over time. The qualified individual will collaborate closely with design engineers and designers to complete drafting and detailing tasks with high quality, efficiency, and productivity for client projects.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 1+ years of relevant drafting and detailing experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and procedures.
  • Proficiency with the manipulation of vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 2D and/or 3D drawings in support of our distribution team.
  • Create plan and profile drawings to support both overhead and underground projects.
  • Help develop and maintain any standards and processes to support the Distribution team.
  • Support remote office overflow CAD workload on a need and availability basis, requiring coordination with other CAD leads in Leidos offices.
