About The Position

This is an entry-level engineering position intended to develop technical expertise in a specialty area. The role performs work involving conventional plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features and established precedents. Assignments are limited in scope and require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly used in the area. The engineer works under supervision and follows established procedures; work is reviewed for technical judgment, adequacy, and accuracy. The position may lead small- to medium-sized, non-critical projects or provide field oversight of critical projects under the direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor. As proficiency grows, the engineer may contribute to larger projects and may coordinate or supervise interns, drafters, craft personnel, technicians, or others. The job summary and responsibilities describe the entry-level role. The selected candidate may be placed at the entry, staff, or senior level based on skills and experience, with different qualifications required at each level. Xcel Energy supports a hybrid work model. Many roles are expected to work onsite three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday, although expectations vary by role, team, and business needs. Xcel Energy is an energy provider serving electricity and natural gas customers across eight states. The company describes its work as focused on reliable, resilient, and sustainable energy and supporting the clean energy transition.
