Eversource is seeking a Distribution Design Associate Engineer to be located in Cheshire, CT. This is an entry-level position within the Distribution Design Engineer (DDE) progression, reporting to an Engineering Lead. The role provides the individual with the necessary experience and training for advancement to the fully qualified level of Distribution Design Engineer. Duties include assisting in identifying improvements and major repair needs on the distribution system, providing engineering support for customer additions, and assisting with system improvements for assigned circuits. The individual will review daily interruption reports, analyze projected circuit deficiencies (e.g., voltage, overloads), and assist the DDE/Lead with developing recommendations on equipment replacement versus repair to maximize Return on Asset (ROA). The role also involves participation in major restoration efforts, including Emergency Preparedness. Essential Functions include assisting with the planning and performance for assigned circuits, identifying project benefits and desired outcomes, providing engineering support for specific projects, and assisting with engineering resolutions for multiple outages. The role involves creating field work in the current work management system and assisting the DDE/Lead until proficient in supporting EMF communications/measurements, negotiating easements, addressing customer quality of service issues, and supporting Operations with distribution issues (including switching review, contingency planning, work prioritization, and yellow tag monitoring). Additionally, it involves providing engineering support to Field Engineering Design P&CE on Recloser and Breaker settings, considering safety in all circuit analysis, making direct customer contact, developing corrective actions, providing regulator and capacitor control settings, assisting in outage/voltage/power quality investigations, and engineering corrective actions. The role also includes working with the DDE/Lead in developing distribution projects and presenting to the Connecticut Project Authorization Committee (CTPAC) for approval, evaluating proposed DG interconnection applications, and reviewing/implementing annual procedures. The position requires utilizing electronic software tools to model and analyze the distribution system (SynerGee, PTI, USAmp, PI, Visio, etc.). Other related duties as assigned, including support to SOC, and non-exclusive, non-supervisory, storm restoration and emergency assignments are also part of the role.
