About The Position

This is an intermediate-level position responsible for ensuring that all shipping and receiving documents and functions are completed accurately and on time. The role involves communicating with customers as required and, in collaboration with the Transportation Department, developing inbound and outbound freight schedules. The Distribution Clerk will also schedule inbound and outbound freight with the Warehouse or Transportation Manager to comply with warehouse operations and capacities, ensure proper labels and tickets are applied before shipping, and maintain good security habits at dock doors.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED preferred.
  • Three years of applicable experience required.
  • Must be able to use proper techniques to lift 50 pounds.
  • The ability to follow directions, with an emphasis on safety, is extremely important.
  • Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA Forklift and HAZMAT certification is a plus.
  • Warehouse/distribution experience is a plus.
  • Equipment with MHE, such as reach truck operators and order pickers, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all shipping and receiving documents and functions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Communicating with customers as required.
  • Developing inbound and outbound freight schedules with the Transportation Department.
  • Scheduling inbound and outbound freight to comply with warehouse operations and capacities.
  • Ensuring proper labels and tickets have been applied before shipping.
  • Maintaining good security habits at dock doors.
  • Assisting in loading and unloading trucks when necessary.
  • Operating forklift, crane, and truck as needed.
  • Complying with OSHA and other appropriate standards.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents.
  • Gathering and maintaining all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities.
  • Entering data into systems.
  • Ensuring that receiving counts match packing lists and purchase orders and that shipping counts match picking documents.
  • Assisting in resolving any discrepancies.
  • Collecting all documentation for inbound freight and routing it to the proper record-keeping unit.
  • Directing and overseeing the pallet control and exchange program.
  • Participating in cycle counts and helping maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
