The Distribution Clerk is responsible for all tasks that involve receiving, storage, charging, and distribution of supplies and equipment. This role involves stocking and replenishment of life-saving code carts and other apparatuses, rotating stock, checking for and removing expired items, and performing inventory scanning on inpatient units. The clerk will also be responsible for making and maintaining isolation caddies and kits, and for the pickup, cleaning, and sanitation of hospital equipment in adherence to Joint Commission and infection control standards. Additionally, the role includes restocking high-usage supplies, using a pneumatic tube station, and handling computer, verbal, and written transactions. The Distribution Clerk will work with staff of different skill levels, may access medication storage areas during replenishment tasks, and will be trained on department phone usage and proper response to inquiries from various hospital staff. They will learn which departments to contact for specific needs, read and respond to emails, and may mentor new staff. Familiarity with delivery routes and locations is essential. The role also involves using copier and printer machines, Cisco portable and desk phones, and delivering excellent customer service using the AIDET method.
