About The Position

Avantor is seeking a Distribution Center Team Lead to be responsible for coordinating all warehouse activities on a daily, shift or team basis. They are responsible for leading or supervising the receiving, storage and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. This is a full-time position based out of our Bridgeport, NJ location.

Requirements

Three years applicable experience required.
Good supervisory and communication skills.
Familiarity with personal computers and material handling equipment is essential.
Strong decision making and coaching skills.
Ability to drive results.

High School degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensuring that all shipping and receiving documents and functions are completed accurately and on time.
Communicating with customers as required and, with the Transportation Department, developing inbound and outbound freight schedules.
Mentoring less-experienced peers and assisting supervisors, but does not formally supervise others.
Helping establish work schedules and ensuring that the schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are completed properly.
Applying sound communication and motivational techniques in leading, supervising, coaching and disciplining associates.
Providing input into performance evaluation for recommending promotions, wage increases, associate development and terminations.
Supervising checking and unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product and picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with high level of productivity.
Verifying required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all products are properly counted.
Ensuring inbound and outbound shipments are complete and free of damage.
Completing all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
Computing and analyzing daily, weekly production metrics.
Assisting in physical inventories and cycle counts.
Maintaining product locator system.
Ensuring the optimal utilization of space.
Rotating product as appropriate.
Ensuring the efficient and safe operation of material handling equipment.
Maintaining a clean, neat and orderly work area.
Assisting in maintaining warehouse security.
Conducting operations in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with OSHA and other appropriate standards.
Attending warehouse planning meetings.
Acting as liaison between employees and management.
Communicating industry and brand knowledge to associates.
Performing other duties as assigned.
