This is a leadership role based in Dallas, Texas, with a hybrid work arrangement. Candidates must be U.S. citizens who have, or can obtain, a security clearance. Candidates able to relocate to Dallas are welcome. The anticipated base salary range is $140,000–$165,000, with eligibility for either an annual performance bonus or commission program, depending on the position.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in software engineering, with significant focus on distributed systems architecture.
  • Proven experience designing large-scale, distributed, and event-driven systems.
  • Strong technical understanding of Java-based microservices architecture and API gateways.
  • Strong experience designing event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns and data flows.
  • Experience with cloud-native platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and API design.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture in distributed environments.
  • U.S. citizenship and an existing security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and integrating systems in the supply chain domain.
  • Familiarity with concepts from Designing Data-Intensive Applications and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
  • Experience in regulated environments, including FedRAMP, DoD, or defense systems.
  • Experience designing multi-tenant enterprise SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with Ansible for infrastructure as code; Terraform is also mentioned.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve reference architectures for distributed, event-driven, and integration-centric systems; establish architecture principles, standards, and design patterns across engineering teams.
  • Lead system design for high-scale, mission-critical applications.
  • Design distributed systems for high throughput, large-scale data processing, fault tolerance, resilience, scalability, performance optimization, eventual consistency, and distributed transactions.
  • Architect enterprise integration solutions using patterns such as publish/subscribe, message routing and transformation, and event-driven workflows.
  • Define strategies for message durability and replay, schema evolution and event versioning, and dead-letter handling and recovery.
  • Define API design and governance standards for REST, gRPC, and asynchronous APIs; architect service-to-service communication models and guide API gateway and service mesh implementation.
  • Design cloud-native systems using Docker and Kubernetes, including multi-region deployments, high availability, disaster recovery, and infrastructure as code.
  • Design distributed data strategies, including Event Sourcing and CQRS, data synchronization across services, distributed data stores, and replication.
  • Define system-wide observability strategies and patterns for distributed tracing and correlation IDs.
  • Define secure communication patterns, including mTLS and zero-trust architectures; ensure secure integration across distributed services and support compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, DevOps, and security teams and external customers.
  • Mentor senior engineers, provide architectural guidance, and participate in design reviews and technical decision-making.
