About The Position

Index Engines is seeking an experienced Distinguished Software Engineer to join their Platform team. This role involves developing, maintaining, and supporting software for Index Engines’ Linux applications. The candidate will act as a strategic advisor and hands-on code builder, collaborating with multiple engineering teams to assess product technology needs and design robust software architectures for innovative, high-impact solutions. The company focuses on helping businesses recover from cyber threats, particularly ransomware attacks, using their AI-driven CyberSense solution, and partners with industry leaders like Dell Technologies, IBM, and Hitachi Vantara. Index Engines offers a growing, tech-forward environment with a startup feel and an enterprise-level impact, emphasizing collaboration, curiosity, and problem-solving.

Requirements

Strong software development experience using C, Python on Linux.
Proficient with Linux system hardening, and security
Proficient with cryptographic algorithms, OpenSSL, and TLS
Proficient with the development of data structures and algorithms that are both performance-oriented and able to scale to manage large datasets.
Practices Agile Development methodology.
Experienced using AI code generation tools like Claude.
Enjoys working in a challenging and highly collaborative environment.
Experienced working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
Able to accommodate the time zone differences required to work with teams in Asia.
Require minimal supervision and be able to operate in a matrixed organization.
Desire to learn new technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.

Demonstrated experience with software development using C, Python.

Experience with Bitbucket, Jenkins, Jira and Confluence.
Experience with data storage, backup software, and technologies.

Responsibilities

Review functional specifications, create detailed design and technical architecture to help engineering teams create highly scalable, secure solutions.
Write clean, maintainable, and production-quality code; participate in code reviews, testing, and code deployment.
Act as an independent team member who troubleshoots production issues, identifies system bottlenecks, and provides proactive recommendations for improvements.
Guide and mentor cross-functional teams, coordinate technical deliverables, and demonstrate ownership of technical solutions.
Work with other Scrum team members to integrate and test software modules.
Work with the support team to analyze and resolve customer impacting issues.
Work with Product Management to review requirements and develop a feature delivery plan.
Provide technical leadership within the assigned areas of the CyberSense product.
Provide guidance, and pioneer team adoption to use the latest AI technologies.
