The Enterprise Architecture organization is seeking a Distinguished Enterprise Architect to provide enterprise-wide architecture leadership for strategic initiatives and complex technology challenges. This individual contributor serves as a trusted advisor to Architecture leadership and senior executives, helping define enterprise strategy, target-state direction, standards, technical doctrine, and multi-year direction within a strategic technology specialty. The role provides expertise on decisions and challenges with enterprise-wide impact and helps guide technology choices with long-term organizational implications. The Distinguished Enterprise Architect establishes specialty strategy, standards, reference architectures, and technical direction while resolving complex challenges that span organizational and technology boundaries. Through strategic advisory work, technology evaluation, architecture governance, and collaboration with executive leadership, this role helps shape long-term enterprise technology direction. The position also mentors architects and senior technical leaders, contributes to architecture excellence across the organization, and represents Mayo Clinic in strategic engagements with vendors, research collaborators, standards organizations, and professional communities. This role is appointed for exceptional and recognized expertise in a named strategic technology or architecture specialty. It sets enterprise specialty strategy, technical doctrine, target-state direction, standards, and precedent; solves unprecedented or systemic problems; and advises Architecture leadership and senior executives on decisions with enterprise-wide and multi-year consequences. Distinguished is a cross-cutting technical-authority overlay rather than routine ownership of a portfolio, platform operating backlog, or governance service. This is a hybrid position located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus, with occasional on-site expectations based on business needs. A bachelor's degree and 15 years of relevant technology experience are required. A master's degree and demonstrated architecture or technical leadership at a senior technical-authority level are preferred. TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner or TOGAF 9 Certified certification is required within 12 months of employment; TOGAF EA Leader is preferred. Applicants must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without current or future Mayo Clinic sponsorship.
