About The Position

This hybrid position must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus to accommodate occasional on-site expectations based on business needs. The Distinguished Enterprise Architect provides enterprise-wide architecture leadership for strategic initiatives and complex technology challenges, serving as a trusted advisor to Architecture leadership and senior executives. The role helps define enterprise strategy, target-state direction, standards, technical doctrine, and multi-year direction within a strategic technology specialty, and advises on decisions with enterprise-wide impact and long-term organizational implications. The role establishes specialty strategy, standards, reference architectures, and technical direction, and helps resolve complex challenges spanning organizational and technology boundaries. Through strategic advisory work, technology evaluation, architecture governance, and collaboration with executive leadership, the architect helps shape long-term enterprise technology direction. The position also mentors architects and senior technical leaders, contributes to architecture excellence, and represents Mayo Clinic in strategic engagements with vendors, research collaborators, standards organizations, and professional communities. This is an individual-contributor appointment for exceptional, recognized expertise in a named strategic technology or architecture specialty. It sets enterprise specialty strategy, technical doctrine, target-state direction, standards, and precedent; solves unprecedented or systemic problems; and advises Architecture leadership and senior executives on decisions with enterprise-wide and multi-year consequences. Distinguished is a cross-cutting technical-authority overlay rather than routine ownership of a portfolio, platform operating backlog, or governance service.
