About The Position

The Distinguished AI Engineer leads the design, development, and deployment of large-scale, production-grade artificial intelligence systems and platforms that enable enterprise-wide innovation and modernization. This hybrid role requires associates to work in an office three days per week. Alternate locations may be considered for candidates within commuting distance of an office; candidates outside a reasonable commuting distance are generally not considered unless an accommodation is granted as required by law. The role provides enterprise technical direction, hands-on engineering leadership, and mentorship. It shapes architecture patterns, integration standards, reusable platform capabilities, AI governance, and AI-enabled software development practices. The engineer partners with teams and stakeholders to drive adoption, improve system performance and engineering productivity, and modernize legacy systems. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 15 years of qualifying software engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. For candidates working in person or virtually in California, Washington, or Illinois, the stated salary range is $254,584 to $416,592. Elevance Health also offers a comprehensive benefits package, subject to eligibility requirements. The anticipated end date listed for the posting is October 31, 2026.
