About The Position

The Distillation Operator is responsible for operating a forklift safely, reading batch tickets and instructions, and distilling batches in a designated vessel. This role requires experience in distillation or reactor operations, understanding of distillation process physics, and the ability to handle raw materials, operate equipment, and pack products. The operator will also be responsible for using the Sage ERP system for batch tracking and documentation, performing basic math, and adhering to all relevant safety and quality guidelines including GMP, SQF, HAACP, and FDA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to correctly identify and pour raw materials in designated vessel utilizing scales.
  • Ability to set up and use pumps, filters, scales and other equipment as well as control heat/vacuum.
  • Ability to pack products into the correct containers and label as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret Sage ERP system’s batch sheets, track batches in Sage ERP system, submit sample to Quality and print stock labels.
  • Able to perform basic math and convert units of measure.
  • Diligent in batch-record & log keeping with sufficient details.
  • Ability to operate all on-site forklifts.
  • Ability to read and produce batches when given disposition from Quality.
  • Work in accordance with all relevant requirements including, but not limited to GMP, SQF, HAACP, FDA, USDA and internal safety guidelines.
  • Compliance with the systems/programs of Flavor Producer’s Quality, Safety and Food Safety programs.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform routine work assignments, multi-tasking and following instructions with moderate supervision; ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to understand work procedures, methods and use required equipment.
  • Strong writing skills and able to communicate proficiently in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Distillation or reactor experience, both vacuum & atmospheric
  • General distillation process physics understanding vacuum, open/closed systems, forward and reflux distillation, system parts and function
  • Understanding basic separation, solvent recovery concepts
  • Flavor / Food Industry experience a plus
  • Experience in batching environment preferred
  • General chemistry understanding a plus

Responsibilities
