About The Position

Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM) offers one of the most forward-looking educational environments in dental medicine in the country. Clinics managed at TUSDM provide quality comprehensive care to more than 20,000 individuals annually. Nationally and internationally, the school promotes health and educational programs and researches new procedures, materials, and technologies to improve oral health. Clinical Affairs oversees the operations of day to day patient care for Tufts Dental students.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years related experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs with or without accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/Technical training.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments.
  • CDA-Certified Dental Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing and stocking inventory, issuing, and receiving instruments.
  • Equipment control and security of dental equipment and instrument cassettes.
  • Follow all Infection Control Protocols and Procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized work area.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and staff in Dental Clinics.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.
  • Perform inventory reports and report deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Maintain security of dental equipment and instrument cassettes.
  • Follow barcode system protocol.
  • Review and sign transfers of instruments from or to Central Sterilization Facility or another dispensary.
  • Inspect returning cassettes for damage, debris, defects, or missing items.
  • Communicate with students to take appropriate action regarding instruments and infection control protocol of equipment.
  • Work effectively with faculty, students, residents, and other Clinic Materials staff to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Demonstrate the Clinic Materials values of Mutual respect, Patient Centered, Safety, Responsible and Continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean well-organized work area, and sweep the operatories for gloves, Cavicide, blue wrap and remove any remaining materials.
  • Perform other duties as needed to contribute to the team effort of Support Services.
  • Maintain infection control protocols and procedures.
