About The Position

The Dispatcher will directly supervise assigned drivers, ensuring adherence to company policy, providing performance counseling, and conducting reviews. This role involves daily communication with drivers for dispatching, tracking loads, and pre-planning to ensure they receive and understand vital information. The Dispatcher acts as a liaison between drivers and management, ensuring expectations are met regarding service and cost. They will utilize in-cab telematics tools for performance monitoring and trip reporting, manage DOT compliance (CDL & medical card expirations, drug screens, safety training), and oversee driver layover and detention times. Additionally, they will manage equipment maintenance status, enter service failures, monitor on-time delivery performance, address driver payroll/settlement questions, manage driver miles, appropriately match loads to drivers considering customer and driver needs, manage fleet turnover for retention, maintain fleet awareness for driver safety, and track driver time off to ensure home time success.

Requirements

  • Computer literacy and basic personal computer or host terminal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good phone and communication skills
  • Ability to follow up on unfinished tasks and manage multiple priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a business-related or communications field
  • Two (2) years of dispatch experience
  • Previous dispatch or trucking industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Enter service failures daily and manage driver on-time delivery performance.
  • Respond to driver payroll/settlement questions.
  • Manage driver miles.
  • Appropriately match loads to drivers to satisfy customer and driver needs, ensuring safe and timely freight delivery and pickup.
  • Manage fleet turnover to maintain a satisfactory retention ratio.
  • Maintain fleet awareness for driver safety reports.
  • Manage and track driver time off and maintain high accountability for driver home time success.
