About The Position

The Dispatcher will coordinate assigned fleet capacity and drivers, and manage and maintain assigned equipment resources to meet or exceed utilization objectives. This role involves leading and retaining a designated fleet of drivers, establishing and maintaining good working relationships, and communicating professionally and effectively with internal and external customers. The dispatcher will manage service levels, schedule drivers for safety compliance and maintenance, and resolve issues that arise during loads to maximize fleet productivity.

Requirements

Minimum of one (1) year prior experience as a dispatcher within the transportation industry
High school diploma / GED Required
Must be detail-oriented and organized
Possess good communication skills
Great multitasking skills
Proficient with computer technology
Able to learn company-specific programs
Able to access GPS monitoring programs
Must be able to work nights/weekends (remotely) and have schedule flexibility
Analytical thinking skills
Fluent in English
Strong understanding of transportation regulations and laws in the state they are working
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Nice To Haves

A degree in transportation, supply chain management, or logistics will be preferred
Preferred experience in Dispatching System but will train
Knowing a second language can be very advantageous
Strong experience and knowledge with DOT and FMCSA a plus

Responsibilities

Coordinate assigned fleet capacity and drivers
Manage and maintain assigned equipment resources to meet or exceed utilization objectives
Lead and retain a designated fleet of drivers
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with each driver
Communicate professionally, effectively, and timely with both internal and external customers/contacts
Communicate late pickups and/or deliveries, as well as any other load changes, to customers
Maintain awareness and consider any road conditions, weather conditions or any issues that may interfere with timely delivery and adjust route as needed to ensure timely delivery
Manage driver performance and recommend proper disciplinary steps if necessary
Manage service levels of 90% for on time pick-up and delivery
Schedule drivers for specific required safety compliance activities
Schedule driver’s equipment for required maintenance work
Maintain effective communication with assigned drivers and determine best course of action in resolving any issues that may arise during a load
Manage driver availability to maximize productivity of the assigned fleet
