Local Dispatcher in Trucking/Logistics
About The Position

The dispatcher is responsible for assigning jobs to drivers and ensuring that all service requests are completed in a timely fashion. In addition to performing data entry and customer service tasks, the dispatcher’s main duty is to be the main source of communication for drivers and help them resolve any issues that may arise throughout the day. This position examines logistic capacities and assigns jobs accordingly so that services may be completed as efficiently as possible. A high degree of problem-solving skills are required for this position, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively while prioritizing time-sensitive tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Customer Service experience (1 year minimum)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Responsibilities
- Assigning jobs to drivers
- Ensuring that all service requests are completed in a timely fashion
- Being the main source of communication for drivers
- Helping drivers resolve any issues that may arise throughout the day
- Examining logistic capacities and assigning jobs accordingly
- Performing data entry tasks
- Performing customer service tasks
- Sorting deliveries by pre-determined areas to create driver manifests
- Entering, scheduling, and assigning jobs through Crown Freight Manager software
- Determining if drivers have the capacity to accept additional jobs throughout the day
- Responding to customer problems and engaging in conflict resolution
- Ensuring that drivers are on schedule to complete their assigned jobs
- Troubleshooting logistical issues
- Loading and unloading if required using a forklift
