About The Position
Southern Tire Mart is seeking a Dispatcher to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth operations by managing customer interactions, preparing documentation, and coordinating our service technicians and drivers. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in customer service, dispatch, or administrative roles, with strong communication and organizational skills. You will be the first point of contact for many customers, assisting them with parts, service requests, and general inquiries, while also supporting our sales and service teams.
Requirements
- Previous customer service, dispatch, counter sales, or administrative experience preferred
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn shop management or point of sale systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Professional attitude and dependable work ethic
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in an office and shop environment
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of tires, automotive service, or commercial service operations is a plus
Responsibilities
- Greet customers in person and over the phone in a professional manner
- Assist customers with parts, service requests, scheduling, and general inquiries
- Prepare work orders, invoices, and service documentation accurately
- Dispatch service technicians, drivers, or mobile units based on customer needs and job priority
- Coordinate communication between customers, technicians, and shop personnel
- Monitor job progress and provide updates to customers as needed
- Support counter sales by identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate products or services
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and other payment processing as needed
- Maintain organized records of service calls, sales tickets, and dispatch activity
- Help keep the front office and counter area clean, organized, and professional
