About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Dispatcher coordinates and dispatches buses to ensure safe, efficient, and on‑time service within an assigned geographic area. This role plays a critical part in ensuring over 1,000,000 children are transported safely to and from school daily.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a CDL Operator’s License with required endorsements and applicable state or local permits
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in the transportation industry
  • Managerial or supervisory experience preferred
  • CDL may be required based on contract
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work early morning hours and meet strict deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and in high‑volume environments
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with employees, customers, and the public
  • Dress professionally and appropriately for a business environment
  • Perform all job duties safely in accordance with OSHA guidelines and applicable federal and state laws
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use or learn internet‑based systems, required software programs, and office equipment (phones, fax machines, and other electronic devices)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily routing and scheduling of buses; dispatch vehicles and provide timely route information to drivers
  • Monitor service to ensure on‑time performance and resolve route or service issues as they arise
  • Counsel and coach drivers and monitors on frontline service and disciplinary matters
  • Receive and address scheduling issues and driver concerns; resolve directly with customers when appropriate or escalate to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager
  • Manage heavy phone and radio traffic in a fast‑paced environment
  • Serve as the primary communication liaison with major contracted customers
  • Assist with charter reservations, billing, driver payroll, licensing monitoring, and driver hiring, as assigned
  • Provide solutions to pick up and drop‑off issues and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Support backup driver coverage or perform clerical duties while buses are in route
  • Complete special projects as assigned
  • Assist drivers with day‑to‑day operations and ensure compliance with operating contracts, company policies, and applicable state and local regulations
