The Dispatcher position requires the physical stamina to sit for extended periods of time and be able to focus on information coming in from multiple sources including phone calls, officer’s radio calls, emails, and direct information from officers or department leaders. Ability to multitask and prioritize actions based on information received. This position requires a considerable degree of initiative and independent judgment, within procedural boundaries, and at times may be required to respond and deal with emotional, disturbed and sometimes abusive people in a variety of situations. Work may be done separately or with other Security Dispatchers under the direction of the Communications Lead, Shift Lieutenant, or Armed Security Officer-Lead. This position requires shift work. While the position will have a primary shift assigned, they may be required to work holidays, weekend, and/or after hours for special events hosted on university properties. May be subject to call back in the event of an emergency or because of special events.
