About The Position

The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling drivers, vehicles, and shipments to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods. This role serves as a key point of communication between drivers, customers, and internal teams while maintaining compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.

Requirements

Previous dispatch or transportation logistics experience preferred
Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Proficient with dispatch software, GPS/TMS systems, and general computer applications
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

Experience in dry-van, refrigerated, flatbed, or expedited freight
Familiarity with route optimization tools
Prior experience in a carrier or trucking dispatch role

Responsibilities

Schedule and dispatch drivers, vehicles, and loads based on customer needs and delivery timelines
Monitor routes and track shipments to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries
Communicate with drivers regarding routes, delays, weather conditions, and customer instructions
Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS)
Use dispatch software, GPS systems, and transportation management systems (TMS) to manage operations
Handle unexpected issues such as delays, breakdowns, or route changes and provide quick, effective solutions
Maintain accurate records of dispatch activity, driver logs, and delivery confirmations
Coordinate with warehouse, operations, and customer service teams
Provide excellent customer service by updating clients on shipment status
Review and optimize routes for efficiency and cost savings
