About The Position

Amwaste is hiring a dispatcher to work at its Sylvan Springs, Alabama location. The dispatcher serves as a communication hub for drivers, customers, operations management, and customer service, helping coordinate service and resolve issues. The role supports Roll Off, Commercial Frontload, and Transfer Station trucks. The shift starts at 6:00 AM and ends between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, depending on workload and personal time management.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
Experience working in a team setting and ability to communicate effectively across several areas.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, intense environment.

Experience in transportation, logistics, waste collection, customer service, or a role requiring decision-making and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

Dispatch drivers to incoming calls using customer needs, driver locations and abilities, and daily factors to balance cost and response time.
Help determine daily driver staffing levels to balance responsiveness and productivity.
Assign routes and service tickets to drivers throughout the day and for the following day, and close service tickets each day.
Handle customer and sales department calls and emails, including pickup and container-delivery requests, while ensuring service guarantees.
Call customers while drivers are on site to resolve pickup and other issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pickup problems before they become service issues.
Record and document information from drivers and distribute it to the appropriate departments.
Communicate with maintenance shop personnel and the Operations Manager to resolve equipment and driver issues.
Assist with problem resolution across Roll Off, Commercial Frontload, and Transfer Station truck operations.
Interact with customers and sales staff.
