About The Position

The Dispatcher is responsible for receiving orders and scheduling ready-mix deliveries. This role directs batch plant operators, loader operators, and ready-mix drivers to meet customer requirements. The Dispatcher uses information from the Sales Department for optimal results, processes delivery ticket information for accurate billing, and coordinates the delivery of customer orders. Key responsibilities include evaluating the daily schedule to notify customers of potential delays, scheduling additional equipment, making adjustments for changes in delivery rates or equipment issues, and minimizing non-productive time. The Dispatcher must be committed to customer service and be willing to "Do What It Takes" to meet customer needs at all times. This includes accepting orders via telephone, quoting C.O.D. prices, balancing COD transactions, processing checks and credit card transactions, and administering credit controls. The role requires professionalism, safety consciousness, and effective communication with supervisors, drivers, and customers to resolve complaints and problems. The Dispatcher also posts driver schedules and files incident reports as needed.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record
Basic math and computer knowledge
Familiar with streets, highways and traffic
Willing and able to work a flexible schedule
Ability to communicate at multiple levels.
Committed to a high level of customer service.
Understands industry standards associated with the ready mix business.
Acquires and maintains NRMCA (ACI Level 1) certification to perform ready-mix specifications.
Performs as dispatcher independently.

Responsibilities

Receives orders and schedules ready-mix deliveries.
Directs batch plant operators, loader operator and ready-mix drivers in support of ready-mix customer requirements.
Uses all information passed from the Sales Department for maximum results.
Processes and posts required information on delivery tickets to ensure accurate invoice billing.
Coordinates and controls delivery of customer orders.
Constantly evaluates current day’s schedule to: Notify customers in advance when the schedule cannot be met; Ensure that additional equipment can be scheduled when available; Make schedule adjustments when rate of delivery changes occur, additional cement is ordered, or there is equipment breaks down; Minimize non-productive time.
Accepts orders from customers via telephone and quotes C.O.D. prices.
Balance all COD transactions.
Processes and posts required information on delivery tickets via computer terminal to ensure accurate invoice billing with computerized accounting system.
Processes all checks and credit card transactions accurately to balance daily totals.
Administers credit controls placed by Credit Manager.
Communicates with Supervisor via radio or telephone if timely delivery of product cannot be met.
Instructs drivers on any unfamiliar delivery routes.
Communicates with ready-mix drivers to ensure efficient delivery.
Works with customers to resolve complaints and problems tactfully and diplomatically.
Timely posts driver schedules.
Reports and files incident report when complaint or problem occurs.
