About The Position

The Dispatcher/Router Combo communicates with WM drivers to help resolve problems on residential, commercial, and roll-off routes. The role handles incoming service orders, directs drivers, and resolves service issues while interacting with customer service, sales, and operational staff. The employee uses WM proprietary software to route same-day tickets and prepare routes for the next day. Shifts vary, with possible overtime and Saturday hours based on dispatch-center needs. Some travel, up to 15%, may be required to meet face to face with the sites supported by the dispatcher.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 6 months of relevant work experience in a team setting, with the ability to communicate effectively across several areas.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Dispatch drivers to calls as they are received, using customer needs, driver locations and loads, and daily factors to balance cost and customer satisfaction.
Work with sites and the service department to optimize routes based on customer needs.
Determine daily driver staffing levels to balance responsiveness and productivity.
Assign routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day; manage route actions and ensure route completion.
Handle incoming calls and emails from customer service and sales, managing requests for pickups, deliveries, and container movements within the Market area.
Communicate with customers while drivers are on-site to resolve pickup and other issues delaying service.
Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pickup problems before they cause service issues.
Manage routing and track driver movement in the field to ensure same-day service on missed pickups.
