About The Position
Under general supervision and according to established procedures, the Dispatcher Patient Transport role dispatches Patient Transportation Aides throughout the facility to transport patients. The dispatcher determines staffing needs, assigns priorities, and schedules transportation services; maintains logs of transportation services provided and generates reports as required. The role also ensures the maintenance of transportation equipment, such as stretchers and wheelchairs, and communicates with nursing staff about potential problems, including schedule overloads or medication concerns.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six to twelve months of experience transporting patients and materials in a hospital environment.
