Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1 year related experience in dispatch and transportation preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excel and computer aptitude including understanding of Microsoft suite, Google Maps, basic knowledge of how to read a map and basic data entry skills.
  • Valid US driver's license.
  • Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Be able to sit, stand, walk, and climb.
  • Have good hand-eye coordination.
  • Have normal finger dexterity and range of motion.
  • Be able to lift up to 35 pounds on frequent basis.
  • Have specific vision abilities required by this job, which include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to reach, type, and bend with his/her hands and arms repetitively.
  • Must be able to push and pull heavy items on occasion.

Nice To Haves

  • Potato processing experience a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Works with production management to ensure adequate supply of raw product is delivered and available to meet daily production demands.
  • Coordinates the dispatching of third-party provider trucks to transport raw product from the field or storage and deliver to plant location in accordance with delivery demands.
  • Monitors in-bound trucks and communicates with drivers, plant management, and the third-party provider about delays, issues, or problems.
  • Analyzes transportation/delivery data to uncover inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
  • Coordinates with raw receiving to ensure arriving trucks are met and offloaded quickly and effectively.
  • Communicates with drivers and supervisors as required.
  • Participates in the safety engagement process, including giving I Care huddles, conducting area assessments, and addressing all safety concerns with the Production Team Lead.
  • Compiles a list of available vehicles.
  • Assigns trucks to deliver raw product to meet daily production demands.
  • Records time of dispatch, weight, destination, raw type, and expected time of delivery along with any other raw product related information.
  • Investigates overdue vehicles.
  • Directs activities of drivers by two-way radio, computer, and/or voice communication.
  • Verifies service or delivery routes.
  • Manages trailers on site.
  • Performs raw receiving and harvest reconciliation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
