About The Position

HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting a seasoned, highly skilled Dispatch Support / Scheduler Assistant to join one of our valued client partners in Union, New Jersey. This hybrid contract opportunity is ideal for a calm, customer-focused professional who excels in high-pressure environments and has proven experience managing emergency calls. The selected candidate will support regulatory compliance, coordinate customer scheduling, and assist with workload management while delivering exceptional service during both routine and urgent situations. This role requires excellent communication skills, emotional composure, and the ability to make sound decisions while assisting customers during emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience handling emergency calls (required and non-negotiable)
  • Experience placing outbound customer calls and coordinating appointments
  • Exceptional verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional under stressful conditions
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage emotionally distressed customers
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced dispatch or scheduling environment
  • Ability to work onsite 1–3 days per week in Union, New Jersey
  • Available to work Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM EST

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within utility, energy, natural gas, or regulated service industries
  • Previous experience in 911 dispatch, emergency communications, crisis call centers, or first responder support environments
  • Experience using dispatching, scheduling, or workforce management software
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance procedures
  • Strong multitasking abilities while managing multiple priorities
  • Experience coordinating field service technicians or operational teams
  • Administrative support experience within customer operations

Responsibilities

  • Place outbound calls to customers to schedule appointments and communicate important service information
  • Respond to emergency customer calls with professionalism, confidence, and empathy
  • Provide clear instructions while helping customers remain calm during urgent situations
  • Evaluate emergency situations quickly and coordinate appropriate responses
  • Support regulatory compliance through accurate scheduling and documentation
  • Coordinate customer workloads and scheduling activities with internal departments
  • Maintain accurate customer records and scheduling information
  • Assist with administrative functions supporting dispatch and scheduling operations
  • Communicate effectively with operations, field personnel, and customer service teams
  • Ensure all scheduling activities follow established procedures and compliance standards
