About The Position

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage. The role involves leading day-to-day transit operations activity under the supervision of the Transit AM Operations Superintendent. Key activities include logistical support, managing accidents and detours, ensuring schedule adherence, supervising dispatch specialists and bus operators, and being responsible for bus operator work assignments. The position also involves comparing daily time-cards and schedules, and ensuring the accuracy of recorded activities in appropriate software and files. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and eight (8) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory, lead, or administrative capacity.
  • OR Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline and six (6) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory, lead, or administrative capacity.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline and four (4) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory, lead, or administrative capacity.
  • A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory drug test at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day transit operations activity.
  • Provide logistical support.
  • Manage accidents and detours.
  • Ensure schedule adherence.
  • Supervise dispatch specialist(s) and bus operators.
  • Responsible for bus operator work assignments.
  • Perform daily time-card and scheduling comparison.
  • Ensure accuracy of activities are recorded in appropriate softwares, files, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
